Pam Kern and Safe Harbor Psychotherapy & Counseling
Local Heart, Global Perspective - whether you're facing a life-altering event or everyday struggles, I offer a secure safe harbor to move from survival toward stability and purpose. My work is grounded in cultural humility, drawing on both local roots and a global lens to meet you wherever life has brought you from.
I'm a Columbia-trained therapist and certified EMDR clinician, specializing in desensitizing and reprocessing trauma imprints that keep us stuck in cycles of hypervigilance or repetitive behaviors. I'm also certified in Crisis Management through ICISF, supporting clients through everything from high-stakes situations to daily life's stressors.
Specialties: trauma, crisis intervention, eating disorders, and weight management, including the psychological side of GLP-1 medications, such as fear of regain, discontinuation anxiety, and body image shifts through medically supported weight change. Please see below for a full list of conditions I treat.
My approach goes beyond symptoms alone. I take a 360° view of your life course, relationships, environment, and lifestyle to build a treatment plan that fits you. I'm happy to walk you through how payment works, whether it's with insurance, MaineCare, or self-pay.
Cancellation & No-Show Policy: Cancellations with 24 hours' notice incur no charge, however cancellations with less than 24-hour notice will be billed at my full session rate. Missed appointments take time that could go to another client, so late arrivals of 10+ minutes are treated as a cancellation. Full cancellation policy details are provided in your intake paperwork if we decide to work together.
